Tiny Homes, Big Dreams, and Femininity

The Black Women Writing series started on International Women’s Day and is continuing for the entire month on YouTube. Watch the playlist here.

We’re focusing on writing about Black women and building authentic characters in fiction and nonfiction, featuring a study of Jamaica Kincaid’s essay “Girl”.

Two questions discussed, for example, are:

  1. What is the definition of Black femininity?

  2. Is there a wrong or right way to write Black feminine characters?

If you’re a writer or aspiring to become one, leave your feedback on this series in the comments below each video! I want to know if this is helping you develop your craft as an author :-)

Have you ever considered living the #softlife…in a container?

Container homes are a huge trend right now, but look at the average YouTube video & you’d think it’s only for Europeans (or White people, frankly).

I’ve been obsessed with tiny home living since 2018, and I had my first experience staying in a container house near a farm. You should watch!

After you finish the video, leave your thoughts in the comments - do you think you’d be interested in becoming a minimalist? What about the minimalist lifestyle do you like, or feel is NOT your cup of tea?
