Writeful Justice on Outschool
Families can now enroll their child in our online course!
About the course:
This is a 3-5 month program designed to achieve three goals:
get your child an opportunity to publish writing with a leading news/nonfiction publication,
build a professional writing portfolio for your child before graduation from secondary or high school, and
boost every learner’s confidence as they find their writing voice.
What will be taught?
Grammar, close reading, argumentative writing, research with primary and secondary sources, data analysis
What topics are covered?
Rules of grammar, how to quote/cite sources, how to determine who/what is a reliable source, different techniques for writing (e.g. AP style, creative nonfiction)
How is the class structured?
15-20 minutes of the class is dedicated to direct instruction (teacher-led) and a short review of what was learned during previous lessons. The remainder of class is dedicated to three activities that become progressively rigorous based on the learner's demonstrated proficiency at each level (basic, intermediate, advanced). All classes end with a summative assessment that’s either completed in class or as a homework assignment.
